HB & HBD Series Ruggedized Electrodes

Brand: Honeywell International Inc
Designed for applications involving high temperature, high pressure and harsh chemical conditions, Honeywell’s HB Series of pH electrode mountings provide a solution for all pH needs, along with Meridian glass pH electrodes and Durafet® non-glass electrodes.

The electrode assembly in the pH electrode mountings is constructed with rugged materials such as CPVC, Polypropylene and Kynar.

HBD Series pH electrodes combine the superior reliability and stability of the Durafet sensor with the unique, long lasting reference electrode design. This combination results in a pH solution for the most demanding and harsh process environments.

What Is It?

The HB and HBD Series use a unique reference technology that includes a host of advanced features that deliver long life and facilitate accurate and cost-effective measurement. The HBD Series incorporates the non-glass Durafet sensor with a unique reference design. The non-glass sensor is virtually unbreakable, lowering replacement electrode inventory costs. It is also more stable over time, reducing calibration frequency and time.

Constructed with rugged materials such as CPVC (HB only), Polypropylene (HBD only) and Kynar, the electrode assembly can be customized entirely to fit a wide range of process needs. Ideal for high temperature and high pressure applications, both the series can be used in both low and high pH conditions. The electrodes are compatible with most industrial transmitters and analyzers, and can be retrofitted to existing pH instrumentation.

How Does It Work?

The reference technology prevents poisoning, internal plugging and internal leakage. Complete filling of reference body allows extreme temperature and pressure tolerance.

The HB and HBD Series is available in three designs which use different threaded connections for easy installation depending on the process. For in-line or submerged operations, the 546 uses a ¾-inch MNPT threaded nose, while the 551 used as a quick change sensor includes a 1-inch MNPT threaded adapter for installation. The 551 sensor comes with a nut-loc retainer for quick removal and replacement.

The 547, used with specified ball valve assemblies, is available with a 1-inch MNPT Wrench-tite, or 1-1/4-inch MNPT Hand-tite compression fittings.

What Problems Does It Solve?

Honeywell’s HB and HBD Series of pH electrode mountings series is the preferred choice for applications involving high temperature, high pressure and aggressive chemical compositions. Rugged materials such as CPVC, Polypropylene and Kynar make these electrodes strong and virtually unbreakable. These electrodes are easy to clean and can be changed quickly. Designed to last long, they provide significant cost savings through the need for fewer replacement electrodes.

The HBD Series is best suited for the harshest conditions, providing long life as compared to traditional pH electrodes.
